Provides week after week's worth of stimulating warm-ups

I must say I'm sold on the Daily Warm-up series. I recently purchased two (Figurative Language and Test-Prep Words II) and have used them with great success in the classroom. Since my classes tend to focus heavily on vocabulary anyway, I've found the Figurative Language title to be the most useful. Each literary device contains its own set of activities--in general five or six--with varying degrees of difficulty. The tropes include alliteration, metaphor, simile, personification (the normal ones) and also little taught items like synecdoche, metonymy, anaphora, etc. The explanations are lucid and easily understood by my ninth graders. What's more, the students (for the most part) enjoy inventing their own alliterative lines and metaphors so they can recite them to the class. I am purchasing the grammar book and will upload a new review soon, though I'm not sure the student reception will be as positive!

Quick mini lessons for students to practice with. I enjoyed using this in my classroom. Not designed to introduce lessons, but used as support material.

JUST what I needed, something past the basics
