Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804 – 1864) was one of America’s most famous writers. Best known for the classic book The Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne also wrote many other well known books and short stories including The House of the Seven Gables and Young Goodman Brown. Nataniel Hawthorne tells us about a man that isolates himself for twenty years, looking into his soul? Why should a happily married man abandon his wife? Does he find happinnes ? Written over 100 years ago this story poses an interesting question about the true meaning of life.
