I really wanted to like this book...

I'm a huge Matthew Kelly fan. And I love Dynamic Catholic, but I feel compelled to share. This book is poorly written, hard to follow and breaks the ever fragile element of 'poetic faith' (aka suspension of disbelief). There were bright spots that drew tears to my eyes ( the heroic Fr. Cascia) and there were moments of inspired advice (Grandpa's giving schedule).

I just couldn't get past the writing. The first person narrative was super distracting and really limited the author. At one point theres a nesting of at least 4 different people speaking: the boy (narrator) speaking the words of his grandpa, who is speaking the words of Lavish, who in turn is speaking the words of a lady she met in the church parking lot. The lady in the parking lot tells the story of a landlord finding an abandoned child in a closet. I would've put the book down if the landlord was quoted. That would've made for one heck of a game of telephone...its not a great way to tell a story.

I'm still confused about the narrators age. Is he ten or is he an adult (like the last chapter)? If he was narrating the whole story as an adult, he could've spared us all false ignorance (not knowing 200k is a ton of miles on any car).

Overall I get the point. To love, earn, give, and save in the most complete of ways. It is through this radical approach one finds true happiness and real peace. Its impossible to 'forget who you are', if you live this way. I give the author credit for attempting to convey this message though characters in a story. I think this is such an important message.

Simply put: I can't overlook the quality of the writing because I'm Catholic and agree 100% with the heart and soul of the message of the author. I don't think we should demand any less from a Catholic author than we would a secular author. 2 out 3 elements were really good. The message: great. The characters: OK(narrator) to great(Lavish). The writing: not so great...and it sours the other elements.

I just finished reading this book by Dr Hunt, and it is simply amazing, as in, I needed to read this book at this time in my life...that kind of amazing. I won't give the plot away, except to say that the book is a parable about learning *how* to give. If you are concerned that you could be doing better in your stewardship, read it, and then pass it on. Handing to my hubby next, so we can talk about it when he gets through.

I read this book this afternoon, so it is fresh in my mind. I know nothing about the author; however, I must agree with an earlier review that this is a poorly written book. If you haven't read it, I'll save you some time: Lead a simple life, use your God-given talents to generate wealth, and then give away as much of that wealth as possible to those who are in need (striving to live a life that focuses on love for others).

This is the book!

This is such a gorgeous book, in all ways! I originally ordered it on Kindle, but now I'm going to buy a hard copy to keep on my shelf for reference. I saw David interviewed in the movie "hungry for change" and was inspired to get his book to learn more. I've never been one for "raw food" but this book completely inspired me to change the way I eat, and the way I relate to my body. The photography in this is so beautiful and David Wolfe brings a refreshingly high level of spiritual wisdom to his writing. He has a huge amount of information, wrapped in poetry and inspiration. If you want to change your relationship with food and your body, this is the book! I've following his wisdom now for less than a month and my skin is glowing (not something it's done in 20 years), wrinkles are literally disappearing (I'm 49), I have tons more energy, and my body is changing rapidly into what it looked like in my 20s!. Thanks to David, I finally understand what and how to eat for real beauty - inside and out. I wish I had learned this when I was younger, but I'm so grateful to know it now. And I'm grateful to have this knowledge to pass along to my daughter.

Very inspiring book that goes to the root of what ...

Very inspiring book that goes to the root of what David Wolfe was originally all about. It's well-written and concise, unlike a lot of raw food guides it's very user friendly and cuts to the chase. I benefited greatly from this book and passed it along to a friend.

Great Book

Generally when I read a diet or nutrition book geared toward the beauty market, it doesn't do a great job at explaining why I should or should not eat a certain food - but this book does!
The information provided is so thorough that it's hard to argue against it. A number of common (and not so common) foods are listed with explanations of what they do to your body, and why they should be eaten. For example, I've read in other books that coconut oil is good for you, but this book does a great job of explaining WHY it's good for you.
This book is written simply and clearly, which reflects the diet/lifestyle that it presents. Because of this, I would recommend this book to anyone who is willing to embark on a holistic approach to eating.

Great Book of Writing Prompts

This is a great book of prompts for children and young adults. These prompts are creative and have depth. I can tell that the author has put a lot of time into writing them. I like that they are divided by age, but really most of them could be useful for any age group (including adults who write for children and young adults).

Super Cute & Useful

I bought this for my baby that I'm expecting this month. I think it has a cute look and will have lots of info without being too thorough or aggressive to keep up with. I like the areas for photos, the way it's sectioned off, etc. I think it'll be the perfect snapshot of the beginning of her life to give to my daughter one day. Really looking forward to using it!

Fun book to document my son's first year!

This is such a fun book. There is a section for each month to talk about highlights and paste in a photo. Also there are sections about mommy and daddy, grandparents, life before baby, the hospital, coming home, christening, baby shower, ultrasound photos, firsts and some blank pages to write in whatever you want. I love how there are checkboxes and writing prompts instead of just blank pages to journal in. I was able to complete a lot of the book in a couple hours while on maternity leave. Now I just go into the book once a month and write for 5 minutes and post a photo and I'm done which is so nice! The book is hardcover and spiral bound. There is lots of space to tape in bigger items like hospital bracelets and you can still close the book nicely.

Wonderful Baby Book!

This book has been so fun and easy to use. My baby girl is almost 9 months already and the pages are so easy to fill out that I haven't missed writing down a single event. I love keepsakes and memory stuff, but I'm terrible at journaling and scrap booking. This book is perfect cause it captures all the important details without taking up too much time or effort. Bonus is that it's gender neutral and still really cute.

It has a short section for pregnancy and birth stuff (baby shower, family history, the birth and the first couple weeks)

Then the next section is for the first year. There's a spot for a picture from that month and stats and other details can be written below. At 3, 6 and 12 months they have an extra section called exclusive interview where you can go into a little more detail about that stage of their life. (sample questions - What's the best piece of parenting advice you've received so far? Have you been having date nights yet? What are some of your favorite things to do together?) The section ends with 4 1/2 pages for 12 months and birthday information and pictures.

The third and final section is the gallery of firsts where it has a separate page for a picture and details about the event. Some of these include: holidays, seasons, bath, first words, first big trip. And then pages to jot down the dates next to milestones such as: First time playing peek-a-boo, first time giving a kiss, first time crawled, first steps, first time eating solid food, first words, first tooth (although there isn't a tooth chart :( )first laugh and lots lots more!

The book ends with a couple pages where mom and dad can write a letter to baby. And then a page for baby to write in when they are all grown up.

You will not be disappointed with this book! So fun. So easy to use. And memories that will last a lifetime.

and their application to uninterrupted flow facilities: freeways, multilane

highways, and two-lane highways. Weaving, merging, and diverging segments

on freeways and multilane highways are also discussed in detail. Volume 2

focuses on interrupted flow facilities: signalized and unsignalized intersections, urban streets and arterials. It is intended to help users of the manual understand how concepts,

approaches, and specific methodologies were developed, and to understand the

underlying principles that each embodies. It is also intended to act as a basic
