ABOUT BE STILL, MY LOVE:
When grieving medium Tess Schafer is urged to take a healing vacation, her friends convince her that a haunted resort on the coast of Maine is the place to go. Although her ability to speak with the dead died along with her husband, that all changes upon her arrival at Sea Willow Haven, and it isn't long before Tess is caught up in the haunting of the two young lovers who tragically died there.

Her quest to help these two lost souls, however, is being met with some resistance. But is it all coming from a malevolent ghost or is the malice she senses coming from someone very much alive?

Though conflicted by her feelings, Tess engages the help of Kade Sinclair, a resort guest and former marine. Their growing attraction for each other puts Tess in turmoil as she struggles to determine her spiritual beliefs, get the full story on the tragedies that occurred there and send those two poor souls into the light.

Her over-active imagination created problems for her on occasion but she focused some of that creative energy on writing stories. Naturally ghosts often factor into her stories. Although a career in the Air Force derailed her author dreams, she's now on track and eager to share the stories filtering through her head and out her fingertips!

About the Author
Deborah Hughes was a normal kid living a normal life when she moved into a haunted house at the age of seven. Suddenly she was sharing space with dead people and experiencing the bizarre world of the unknown and the uncanny. An over-active imagination did not, at first, serve her well for she feared what she did not understand. Learning to read opened her to the world of books and she read everything she could find about supernatural and paranormal phenomena. The more she read, the more she learned and the more she realized how little she knew. This has led to a lifelong search for knowledge, truth and enlightenment. Constantly inspired to write, from the age of eight she began telling the stories streaming like movies through her mind. Although determined to grow up and become a writer, her sense of adventure led to a career in the United States Air Force. Despite a busy and demanding life, Deborah continued writing the stories that came to her in flashes of inspiration and her quest for knowledge continued. Her military career now behind her, she is focused on her lifelong dream of being an author and sharing the stories she’s been so compelled to write. This novel has a compelling and suspenseful plot, and the writer has a nice feel for location and region. This should develop into a strong series anchored by a protagonist with a provocative gift.

Suspenseful, Enthralling

I was hooked from page one. This book is very Gothic. Very mysterious. Very intriguing. Will Tess ever reconnect with her dead husband? What restless spirits haunt the Maine resort? I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good Gothic romance, a spooky read, well-developed suspense, sympathetic characters, and a satisfying resolution. Can't wait for Deborah Hughes' next book.

Fun book!

What do you do with all of your crazy ideas? Why sketch them, of course! This great sketchbook is filled with sketches of strange inventions– a dry land swim machine and a dress that inflates into a chair so you can sit anywhere (I mean, that sounds awesome!). It provides some brain juice to get your kids’ ideas flowing, as well as provides opportunities for young inventors to think outside the box and design both practical and fantastical designs in response to various prompts. I love that it gives kids some practical insights into recording ideas, sketching inventions, and even a little bit about patents! My kids have been really enjoying this book- lots of laughs and also the beautiful sentences that start out “what if we…..?” I love books that encourage the kids to think outside the box!

Great Basic Grammar Guide

Technically, this is a cram guide for College students studying japanese for courses. But it makes an ideal companion for people living in Japan who are learning a lot of words through osmosis, but need a little help with the grammar to help them structure what they know and take their Japanese to a basic level.

I used this book to help me with my grammar within 6 months of arriving in Japan, and it helped me make the leap from being able to make single to triple word declarations in Japanese, to being able to speak in full sentences, and helped put me on the road to fluency. It shows you how to form basic sentences (for example comparisons "X is bigger than Y" etc) in a simple, straightforward manner. Since it's an outline of the most fundamental grammar, all of it is highly relevant and useful, with no filler.

One thing though- As useful as it is for beginners, since it only covers fundamental elementary grammar, good students will quickly outgrow it. Once finished with it I would recommend "A Dictionary of Intermediate Japanese Grammar" by Seiichi Nakino and Michio Tsutsui, also available here on amazon.

By the way- the reviewer below is right about "Wo" not being a mistranslation. It's a standard, if confusing way to spell it. You need to

type "wo" to get that particle if you're typing in Japanese on a web browser or microsoft word, for example.

an excellent companion book for any Japanese learner

This book covers just about every important bit of the Japanese Grammar in a comprehensible manner.

Each part is given a short intro, explained shorly and clearly and then is given numerous example in all romaji, Japanese (Kana + Kanji) and its english translation in which the grammar part is bolded out to stress its influence on the sentence.

Then there are explanation and examples of common speech patterns in which the grammar part is used (and then followed by yet another numerous examples). There are also many exercises at the end of each section with answers at the end of the book.

The last part is probably the most important part. It covers many of the common patterns and addressing such as comparison, asking for premission, giving advice, ect.

I used this book through my studies from being an absolute beginner. Even now it serves as a great reference and review book since it organized in a way that you can easily find any speech patten you seek and view varius examples that will remind you what you had forgot.

Unique Gem in the world of Nonverbal Communication

This workbook is a little gem for teaching at the community college level or any introductory level. It is the only text I have found that contains many effective experiential exercises. Where is the textbook that should accompany this? I have not found an appropriate text for an introductory course.
