Outstanding book!

The previous edition of "New Directions in Solid State Chemistry" has been my favorite book in our University Library. If you deal with Solid State Chemistry, Inorganic Materials Science or Ceramics you should read this book and keep it on your desk. Then you should read it continuously like a Bible.
It covers a lot of topics on materials synthesis, structures and characterization. One certainly can not keep in mind all compounds and experimental data presented in this book, however it is extremely exciting to find that authors forced you to discover a logic hidden in the huge volume of reviewed experimental facts and later to use this discovery in your own research.
Once I found a new edition of this book at Amazon.com, I ordered it without hesitating a second.
The only problem - it takes long time to process this order.

Real-life fantasy

Yes, I enjoy books like The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty and Exit to Eden, but I much prefer even my fantasies to have a bit more realism in them. I want to be able to truly believe that they _could_ happen to me. This book was PERFECT for that. I also like that the author makes it clear that D/s does not necessarily mean the same thing as S/M! AND that the main character does not spend ALL of her time in the throes of ecstasy. She states that it's simply all she's sharing in the book since everyone knows what normal day-to-day activities are like. Overall, the best erotica I've read so far.

A BONDAGE lovers dream.....

This is a delightfully entertaining book for hardcore bondage lovers. It is told in a semi detached manner by a woman as she experiences different erotic bondage escapades. There is a great deal of detail in most of the described stories except when it gets to the sexual aspects. At times there is a myriad of details and others she quite coyly states 'this isn't that kind of book' and provides no other details other than the deed was done. I gave the book only 3 stars for false advertisement. The book opens with Victoria deciding to give herself to Howard as a birthday present and she gets herself pierced in a part of her anatomy that would make most of us women shudder. But there is no lead or further explanation as to why she thought that Howard would appreciate her gift. Howard not only appreciates her gift but takes it to a higher level immediately. There is no slowly growing to accept the ideas of eroticism and bondage. The author goes full steam ahead as soon as Howard locks her up on page 2. She becomes game for any and everything so this notion of discovery goes out the window in a hurry. We are fed scene after scene of delectable bondage scenes and mock rapes etc. that are quite entertaining. There is little else to the book so if you are expecting to read a fully fleshed out novel then think again. The author is quite honest about that as you read through in that they fully acknowledge just presenting story after story of different bondage scenes to the reader. At times it was a bit tedious and repetitive but for the most part I read it with a smile and appreciated the frequent humor. By the way I was very glad to see the author take the time to distinguish between dominance and submission and sadism and masochism. There is a big difference between the two that is often overlooked by a lot of writers. Bondage is definitely in the d/s camp and not the s/m camp.So if you like your bondage straight up without ice then this is for you.

A nice sense of humor, combined with a clear view of B&D

I liked The Passive Voice very much, read it twice. The author is an englishwoman with a sense of humor who is very much into B&D,and offers herself as a present to her boyfriend. Shortly the focus expands to her/their circle of friends. Very sexy, as much because of what goes on between the ears as elsewhere. Real insights on what it's like to welcome bondage, and get more than you ask for. One of the famed John Willie's bondage and discipline situations is borrowed here (and improved on.) As a bonus, it's very well written.

I love this new addition to Jan Brett's Gingerbread Baby series! The details are exquisite in the borders and tell their own story. I recommend that you purchase the actual book and skip the ebook on this one, though. The pages, when opened are so wide, that when you read it on-screen, the pages end up looking pretty small. The text is not overly larger, so it is very difficulty to read on-screen. At the end, there is a surprise feature (don't want to spoil it for you) that I'm sure is so much better in the print book. I'm going to order the hardcover.

This is the cutest book! If children are somewhat afraid of gingerbread stories, Jan Brett's three books will leave them wanting more. Her illustrations are wonderful and her stories are first rate. As a college reading teacher, I've bought almost all of her books for my grandchildren. The books are engaging.

About the Author

Ruth Snowden first became interested in the works of Freud while studying for her BSc degree in Psychology at the University of Birmingham. She went on to set up a complementary therapy practice offering personal development. In 1998, her first book, Working with Dreams, was published, her research for which led her back into the realms of Freud. She currently is a full-time writer.

This classic text book on Structure-Borne sound transmission is a must-have for anyone in the field of noise & vibration. The book is relatively easily to follow. It is full of very useful and practical information. It is highly recommended as a reference for graduate students and practicing engineers.

It is also useful in our acoustic consulting activities and technical suport for solutions, as "rain on the roof noise" and "foot-fall noise" at residential and business buildings

This fictional tale by a screenwriter and head of a consulting firm that specializes in organizational development is billed not as a novel but as a "leadership fable." Just like Lencioni's earlier The Five Temptations of a CEO (1998), this new "fable" serves as a vehicle to illustrate the author's philosophy of management. The story is short and simple, but its lesson is large. Organizations must not only be smart; they must be healthy. This book is a fairly decent fable on running a business. Patrick builds up the story about two rival companies, but despite being rivals, one outperforms the other constantly. Patrick starts the story by describing each firm and the internal clockwork that keeps them running. He then goes on to describe the rival company that's constantly outperforming the other. which all boils down to 4 disciplines on a yellow sheet of paper, but we don't get to find out until the end of the story. And that's when it gets really good

The 4 disciplines turn out to be simple, yet powerful things. and if we as CEOs can incorporate this behaviour in our firms, then we would be winning too. Well once the other firm isn't doing this... also i must mention that Patrick has one of the best writing styles i have ever seen, i felt fairly relaxed as i relished the jolly welcoming font he used in this book, i liked how he broke up the paragraphs so that you felt as if you could take a breather to think about what he said for a few mins or more, and then get back into it. As opposed to other books that have a tendency to let their paragraphs lead onto 4 pages or more. I'll be the first to tell you i haven't read a million books as i've seen other do but I have read 70 books+ so i feel i'm fairly qualified to say such a thing.

If you're new to "how to run a corporation" type books, this will be really beneficial to you, on the other hand. if you're fairly learnt in this area, then it will probably serve as an enjoyable fable that you managed to pick up some decent tips from

Good, Not Great

One of my favorite leadership books is Patrick Lencioni's The Five Dysfunctions of a Team because the parable format is highly suitable to demonstrating the concepts that prevent teams from becoming cohesive and the actions to increase cohesiveness really make a business impact. This book is a welcome addition to Lencioni's library on leadership and I took quite a bit away from it. I give it 4 stars only because the parable portion of the book wasn't nearly as compelling as that of the aforementioned TFDOAT. Very quick read and very actionable insights here. Check it out!

I was warned but I did not heed the warning

The small extra cost for the Mancuso book by the same publisher would have paid many times over.
Whenever we get down to actual guidelines in this silly book, Mr Pakroo refers us to use Mancuso's book.
This is basically useless unless you just want to read about starting a non-profit but don't really want to DO it.
I don't know if I hate it- but it was basically a waste of limited funds.

An Excellent Book...

I was interested in learning everything that I needed to know about setting up a nonprofit organization, step-by-step. I wanted to know the right questions to ask an attorney and do as much of the groundwork as possible to help save costs.

Attorney Peri Pakroo has done a superb job. This book was EXCELLENTLY written, easy to understand, thorough, and presented in a concise format. I found the price to be quite reasonable considering that it ALSO contained a CD that had various checklists.

So much of forming a nonprofit organization is just following directions (but you NEED to FOLLOW the directions perfectly) and doing steps A-Z. (There are a LOT of steps!) "Starting and Building a Nonprofit...." made following these directions clear and straightforward to get you through each step.

At the same time, because they were featured together - I also ordered "Everything You Never Wanted to Know About Your Nonprofit Organization" by Ms. Cellaneous based on a lot of excellent reviews. In my opinion, it didn't begin to cover the process of all the steps needed to form an organization.

Thankfully, I ordered THIS book as well...because frankly, it was the only book I found I needed.

In 1991, a new international standard for Fortran was released that contained specifications for a new version of the language known as Fortran 90. It provides for dramatic extensions for previous Fortran versions. This book is a comprehensive tutorial to Fortran 90 that relies mainly on a large number of short but complete programming examples to illustrate the differences between the new language and traditional Fortran.

Excellent, exceptionally well suited for self-study

I have looked at many books on f90. This one excels by -being exceptionally clearly written in a colloquial style that explains the ideas behind the new concepts and is fun reading -explains simple things first and progresses to the more complex issues one at a time -contains only complete code examples that are transparent, easy to grasp, to the point, and illustrative -with this book, the transition from f77 to f90 is painless and very quick -everyone in our group enjoyed the book
weaknesses: -new intrinsic functions are not discussed in detail -few examples for character and I/O handling; probably best suited for people with science background/interest such as myself

This book is very helpful for people interested to migrate to modern Fortran. Although I use Fortran 95, this book still helps me to make the transition from f77 to f95 smoothly, and to improve the code I maintain and develop.
